Watch technology has come a long way in a short time.  It wasn’t too long ago that state of the art in watch technology was playing Space Invaders on your watch or using your watch as a calculator.  Then state of the art was dropping the battery and not having to wind your watch anymore because it ran on solar power.  Watches as game playing devices faded away because of the many new functions being added to cell phones and soon cell phones threatened to get rid of the need for a watch altogether.  Watch technology needed to add features that the cell phone makers either could not add or wouldn’t add.  Someone in the watch making industry came up with the idea of synchronizing a watch to the atomic clocks and thereby offering customers perfect time all the time.  Thus the atomic watch was born.  But it was not enough to create the atomic watch, as they also had to give it that solar function that was making watches so popular again.  So the makers of the atomic watch added solar functionality and so they had the atomic solar watch.  Now watch makers and watch technology had two things that cell phones didn’t have and they didn’t stop there.  They made their atomic watch waterproof to almost 300 feet and added time telling in as many time zones as you want.  The atomic watch is taking over and it is quite a piece of technology.

The atomic watch doesn’t run on atomic energy as some people may think.  The atomic watch is named so because it is synchronized with the atomic clocks found in Germany, the U.S., Japan and England.  Those clocks are regarded as the most perfect time keeping devices in the world and they run on atomic power.  The atomic watch is synchronized via satellite to them and that is where they get their name.

The Technology Continues To Amaze

With the automatic features of the atomic watch being synchronization and solar powered the user needs to do absolutely nothing for the watch to operate properly and in perfect time.  Most times the watch is designed to resynchronize itself at night so that when you wake up the watch is ready to go.  Most batteries on an atomic watch are designed to be used for up to 6 months when fully charged.  These watches are changing the world and are certainly giving watch manufacturers reason to cheer.
